Last year’s National Theatre Wales production Before I Leave was an incredible show that moved and inspired us in equal measure.

The accompanying choir project I’ll Sing This Song proved to be just as powerful. Participants from Barry, Brecon and Wrexham living with dementia were taught the lyrics and melody to I’ll Sing This Song, specially written for the show by James Dean Bradfield and Nicky Wire of the Manic Street Preachers. We were blown away by the achievements of the choristers, their enthusiasm for singing and the joy that the project brought to them and their families.

Collaborating with Before I Leave writer Patrick Jones, musician and TEAM Panelist Ben Tinniswood,  photographer Kym Epton and designer Paul Thomas, National Theatre Wales has developed an app about the project which is available for you to download for FREE from iTunes. You can watch a documentary video, listen to the song performed by the Manic Street Preachers, and learn the lyrics so that you can sing along, too.
