I really agree with the article. I hated Avatar exactly because of it, because it tried to cloak the story it was telling. I think the real problem is people who are being allowed to make big budget films, this should be more diverse and if it was we would see more perspectives and different stories being portrayed. I really enjoyed 12 Years a Slave but could that be pushed into the same bracket as these films?
Of the films that are mentioned in the article and the ones I've seen of them I also really dislike their portrayal of women and this again reflects on the people creatively behind the films . . .
