The Ideas Exchangecame out of National Theatre Wales' Assembly programme. The aim was to provide a platform for creatives from Butetown and the surrounding areas to produce participatory theatre events that would explore relevant community issues.
The Ideas Exchangeis produced by local artists Gavin Porter and Keith Murrell in partnership with National Theatre Wales and Wales Millennium Centre and supported by Welsh National Opera. It looks to engage with the local residents of Butetown to develop a community network of local artists. The hope is to develop a core group of artists for the future, becoming part of the growing creative industries sector now present within Cardiff Bay.
Led by creative director Louise Osbourne this will be an evening of spoken poetry, debates, storytelling, film, performance and live music this final event in the series - for now at least -sees the evening's focus turn to the men of Butetown.
Previous events have focused on Madame Butetown and her strong vivacious women, so now it's the turn of the men - together we will explore what it is to be a Butetown man and discuss the future of this celebrated community.
