Just got this from the fantastic David Tse (former Artistic Director of Yellow Earth Theatre) and thought I'd share it:

Opening The Door for BEA Theatre Practitioners

Arts Council England, Equity, SOLT/TMA, CDG and the Young Vic are hosting an Open Space event to address the lack of employment opportunities for British East Asian (BEA) artists in UK theatre.

Opening the Door will enable the theatre sector to discuss the barriers to East Asian employment and identify actions which we can all take to increase the participation, contribution and employment of East Asian artists in UK theatre.

The day will be facilitated by Improbable, who run the highly successful Devoted and Disgruntled national conversations about the future of theatre.  The scene will be set with a number of very short PechaKucha (‘Lightning Talk’) presentations by actors, directors and writers. The day will end with a gathering of all participants to agree the key issues from the day and actions that should take place following it.

This free event should also be an excellent opportunity for networking, with most of the Young Vic’s many spaces being open to participants. Lunch will be provided.

Date:     11th February 2013

Time:     Registration from 9.30am for a 10.30 start. Finish by 5pm.

Venue:  The Young Vic Theatre
