Casting Breakdown

Iris Prize Festival are producing their 8th short film. The winner of the Iris Prize receives £30,000 to make a short film in South Wales.

Previous Iris produced shorts include Burger by Magnus Morks and Followers by Tim Marshall, they have had great success around the world and have featured at The Sundance Film Festival 2014 & 2015.

Arkasha Stevenson is a Los Angeles based writer and director. Stevenson is recently graduated from the prestigious directing program at the American Film Institute, where her thesis film Vessels about black market breast enhancement procedures within the transgender community was awarded the 2015 Iris Prize.

Arkasha has just finished her pilot in LA that is currently being pitched to top American networks. 

Synopsis

Power dynamics shift drastically within 24 hours as Pansy and her pimp, D-Ice struggle to make rent for the evening. Based on true events.

Pansy (Female)

55 year old woman (Age flexible). Trusting, hopeful, but not naive. Believes in love and light. Pansy has been on the streets selling herself since she was 14. She and D-ice hooked up 10 years ago. He got her off the streets, saving her from random acts of violence and rape. She has children but rarely gets to see them. Her favourite colour is pink and favourite shape is a heart.

D-Ice (Male)

50 year old man (Flexible), practical, no nonsense and persuasive. He is just trying to make money so he and pansy can survive each day, but he easily looses sight of pansy in his pursuit for money. Very distinct Voice.

Production dates TBC. Dates currently pencilled 12th to the 15th of June.
