It’s My Shout Productions want YOUR scripts for broadcast on BBC Wales

Every summer It’s My Shout Productions takes 6 scripts from new writers across Wales and produces them to make 10-minute short films for broadcast on BBC Wales in the autumn. Ahead of this summer’s scheme, we’re looking for 10 minute scripts (that’s roughly 10 sides of typed A4) from any writer, young or old, who may be living, or born, in Wales. All the guidelines are available on our website but as a rough outline, we’re looking for scripts that celebrate Wales and our young people.

In last year’s summer scheme, we involved nearly a thousand young people in the production, working alongside industry professionals, whether they were looking to get into acting, producing, camera operating, sound or any other production discipline. Later in the year, we’ll be opening the applications for these positions but for now we want your scripts!

Send in as many as you like - it’s well worth getting something in as all of our scripts are read by a panel including executives and script editors at BBC Wales. The writers of last year’s scripts have since been invited to work with script editors at the BBC on longer programmes. One of them, William Smith, said about the experience, “I’ve just finished the first draft of a thirty page script for a drama pilot. It’s all very exciting.”

Alongside the 6 films under the “Made in Wales” banner, we also make a 30 minute ‘making of’ documentary. All 6 films and the documentary are premiered towards the end of the year at a much anticipated, star-studded, red carpet awards ceremony and they are then broadcast on BBC Wales a few days later. Previous guests at the Premiere have included Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon and Hollywood’s Michael Sheen. As we’re celebrating our 10th birthday in 2012, we’re going to be making this year’s event even bigger and better.

It’s My Shout also operates training programmes throughout the year, from community projects to feature films - all with the focus on nurturing new talent in Wales. Anyone who wants to find out more should log on to the website . You can also get the latest news from our Facebook and Twitter pages.
