After a series of truly thrilling 'Artist* of the Day' visits by our six shortlisted artists for NTW Artist* of the Year 2013 the entire staff team at NTW had several days of intense discussion as to which of these amazing people we should choose to spend the year inspiring and interacting with us. It was a tough, tough choice and the phrase 'can't we just appoint them all' echoed round the office plaintively many a time.  But in the end we had to choose, and in response to a truly extraordinary day, where he turned our office into an art gallery, created instant portraits of the entire staff team, staged an invasion by giant talking rats, and demonstrated that he is a man of huge empathy, sensitivity and fun, in the end we chose Kyle Alonzo Legall for the role.

Congratulations Kyle, we are really looking forward to going on this journey with you. 

To all the other shortlisted candidates, thank you so much for the work you put into this. It has been a privilege to spend time with you and learn more about your art.

And to everyone who applied - it was fantastic to hear your ideas and we do hope that you'll stay involved in NTW in the widest possible range of ways.
