"Cymru and I"

Artists: Yo Nakamura and Jorge Lizalde

Photography: Jorge Lizalde

Since the 'Opportunity of Efficiency' took the company to Japan back in 2013, our links with the country and the region have flourished. First, we had WalesLab Japan (two WalesLab projects created by Japanese artists Yo Nakamura and Underground Airport), have hosted several visits from Japanese arts professionals and have begun to do similar things in South Korea - two artists have joined us for our Summercamp for the last two years running and have lit up the whole residency with their shiny brilliance.

We try to remain involved by supporting these projects wherever possible. (Have a look at the blog post from Jorge Lizalde about his recent tr...) Consequently, we continue to get a lot of artists from Wales contacting us asking for support, advice and/or contacts to help them with an up-coming trip to the region. It's been a privilege to see how these networks have continued to develop over time. Here's also a brilliant blog post from Yasuro Ito from Underground ...

So, with that in mind, we've teamed up with the British Council Wales and Wales Arts International to host a workshop/sharing event to help artists interested in working in the region, whether it's for the first time or a repeat visit. It will be an opportunity to ask questions, share information, experience, create a network of interest, and perhaps collaborate around future initiatives?

We will be joined by Rebecca Gould (British Council) and Nikki Morgan (Wales Arts International) who will help set these conversations in context by providing an overview of current opportunities, developments and emerging priorities for the years to come.

So if you are thinking of working in the region in the future, or have done so in the past, we'd love you to be a part of this. The conversation will take place at NTW HQ (30 Castle Arcade, CF10 1BW) on Friday 26th Feb, 2pm - 5pm.

Thanks to the support from the British Council and Wales Arts International, we will be able to support artist's travel within Wales.

To book your place - please complete the sign up form here before Monday 22nd Feb.

We've had such a brilliant response to this! Thanks everyone who has signed up.

We are now closed to new sign ups but feel free to get in touch with me to register ongoing interest. There may be ways to link you into the conversation in the future.
