'Little Dogs' Frantic Assembly and National Theatre Wales return to Swansea.

Hi.

So I finally have 5 mins to sit down and get a blog going.

It was once said that Swansea is the graveyard of ambition but after a sneaky peak around 'Little Dogs' rehearsals it becomes very clear that just isn't true. 'Little Dogs' brings Frantic back to the city where it all began in a rehearsal room approx 45 seconds walk away from where they put on their first show. I popped in to have a nose around at the start of this week to find a cast that had come to the realisation of just how much hard work and effort was required to bring this show to life. That being said even in my brief amount of time in the rehearsal room you really can see all the different layers  coming together to make something beautiful. Things develop pretty quickly in the rehearsal room with solo exercises turning into more complex group sequences that leave you wondering how it all came together so smoothly.

The general chat surrounding the show has also got me pretty excited with lots of little treats in store for the audience, just talking to Steve and Scott about what they have in mind for the show is exciting enough and I can't wait to see the final product when it takes place in Patti Pavilion from May 9th - 19th. Even before I moved to Swansea I felt like I knew all about the Patti Pavilion as my Nan and Grandad had been to many dances there while they were dating, why my Nan decided to tell me about this I will never know. But this isn't about my Nan and Grandad it's about Frantic converting this legendary Swansea building into something very exciting and different. Every one I've talked to so far about the show being in the Patti first looks at me with confusion, smiles and then says something along the lines of "The Patti. I didn't think that they still did things there. Oh that will be good." I have to agree it will be good and with Frantic drawing inspiration from a Dylan Thomas short story about what young adults get up to amongst the sand dunes and under bridges in Swansea it is hard to imagine where else this show should take place.

I have also heard rumours that somebody 'Frantic' have been working with recently on a previous project might be arriving in Swansea next week.

I think that is about all I have time for right now as I have to head down to Volcanos venue 229 High Street for a sell out performance of their show 'Blinda'. It just go's to show that right now Swansea is the place to be.

I'll be checking back in soon.
