Mother Courage in Merthyr - I'm Excited!

I'm so excited to be working as a promoter for Mother Courage and Her Children.  I was excited before I saw a rehearsal because I love Brecht (he's such a dude and he, like, totally gets me) but today I went along to rehearsals and it made me so happy.

I've always loved watching rehearsals - it's so awesome to see a show coming together, all the different ideas and themes and characters growing and interweaving to make something special and coherent.

This show felt extra special.  Maybe it's because my soft spot for Brecht started back in the late 1990s, when I was in a school production of The Good Person of Szechuan at the Edinburgh Fringe, so his work is a nice reminder of when I started to really love theatre (and was younger...)

I think mainly though it was the buzz I could feel from everyone involved.  Even watching a mix of different scenes and snippets, it was impossible not to get drawn into the play and the characters.  It felt fresh and relevant, timely and timeless.  I can't wait to see the finished show but I'm definitely going to enjoy watching a few more rehearsals first.

And if you're around Merthyr look out for me - I'll probably be holding flyers and grinning.
