NTW TEAM Workout is evolving… and needs YOU!!!

Do you have an idea/script/dream which you’re not sure how to get off the ground?

Are you looking to get involved in new projects and find new collaborators?

Are you a theatre-maker who’d like to meet other theatre-makers and play for a day?

NTW TEAM Workout has been running in Swansea since July 2013 but from June this year it is moving into an exciting new phase in collaboration with Wales Millennium Centre.  So that we can give you more opportunities to develop the work you’re bringing, we’re expanding to a 3 session block over a 3 month period.  By moving between Cardiff and Swansea we hope to enable theatre-makers from both cities to get involved.

There are two ways to take part:

  • You can bring along an idea you want to work on.  This can be absolutely anything theatre based in any form (early script, rough concept, a hunch, etc).
  •  Or you can just turn up and donate your skills (be they acting, directing, writing, unicycling, puppet making etc).  No commitment or preparation needed in advance - just come and do the thing you love most.

After initial warm ups and introductions (feel free to bring those too) those bringing ideas will be linked up to those donating skills.  You will then have space and time to work on them in any way you like.  We’ll swap people round so everyone gets to work on more than one project and there will also be opportunities for new ideas to grow in the room.

The hope is that at the end of the first session we’ll have distinct project groups which can start to work independently of the sessions themselves.  The aim is to move from basic concepts to developed content over the three months and get projects ready to move on to exciting new stages.

It will be supported by Skill Swap sessions, run by Peter and Emma.

The session dates and locations are as follows:

Sunday June 29th, Weston Studio, Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff

Saturday 9th August, Volcano Theatre, Swansea

Saturday 6th September, Victor Salvi Room, Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff

How to sign up?

The sessions are open access and everyone is welcome but we would like to know who is coming so we can plan appropriately.  If you’d like to come along just rsvp to me at lisawellsturner@gmail.com and I’ll put you on the list.  If you’re planning to bring an idea/concept/script along with you, do tell me about it and the sort of collaborators you’re looking for.  I can’t promise you’ll get exactly what you need but we’ll do our best.

Ideally we want people to attend all three sessions – particularly if you’re bringing an idea along with you – but if you’re not sure if you can do this do come along on the 29th anyway and we’ll see how things go.

If you have any questions, queries or suggestions do let me know.  If you'd like regular updates please join the Workout group here.
