  • Devising work
  • Theatre for young audiences
  • Physical Theatre
  • Being part of an ensemble company

Alice in a Plastic Wonderland follows the character of Alice a school student who falls asleep in a science lesson and plunges into a nightmarish dream of talking plastic. Alice is every child and is played by every member of the cast at different points.

The piece utilises comedy, illusion, physical theatre, clowning, puppetry, live and recorded music, projection and an extremely fast pace to hold the focus and interest of the target audience of 6-11 year olds (Primary School years 2-6) and convey difficult and complex information, facts and statistics and to engage, entertain and raise awareness of the rising and very real threat to our planet of Plastic Pollution.

As it is a fast paced and high energy piece Omidaze requires an equal high level physical contribution from the whole ensemble cast who are on stage at all times.

The piece was originally devised and created by Yvonne Murphy with 3rd year BA Acting Students from Trinity St David’s University.

This R&D stage will allow Omidaze to take the show and adapt and develop the structure and script for a smaller and professional cast and crew
and promote and showcase the show to programmers and venue directors ready to tour in 2020.

Omidaze are particularly interested in hearing from actors who feel they represent those currently under-represented on our stages.

Deadline for submissions is Wednesday 22 May.

To apply email a short cover letter (no more than one 1000 words) which explains why you would like to work with the company and be involved with this particular R&D stage together with your CV and spotlight link to Omidaze Director Yvonne Murphy y.murphy1@ntlworld.com .

Please advise which casting slots you are available for on Wednesday 29 May and confirm that you are available for the casting day and all the rehearsal dates.

Successful applicants called for audition will be notified by May 25.

Due to our limited admin resources we apologise that we will not be able to contact all applicants. If you have not heard by May 25 we thank you for your continued interest and support in Omidaze.

This R&D project has been made possible through Arts Council of Wales and National Lottery investment and the support of Theatr Na Nog and Taking Flight Theatre Company.
