Calling all Welsh composers

During the first week of July, Leeway Productions will be facilitating an open space event  with a firm focus on opening the discussion about Musical Theatre in Wales.   

5 writers and 5 composers come together for a whole week for peer to peer learning,  creating, collaborating and co authoring work and discussions about the genre. 

There will be a clear directive to explore form, the role of the creative and to re imagine style.  

Artistic Director Angharad Lee says: 

“Inspired by my time at Opera Lab with Den Jyske Opera in Denmark, 10 Minute  Musicals is a project developed to give space, time and the chance to experiment to  both new and established musical theatre writers and composers in Wales. When do  we ever come together and ask new questions about this genre?  By creating an environment of open space, our priority is collaboration, investigation  and continued learning as we aim to support, not to constrain.” 

This event is in partnership with The Other Room, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, Wales  Millennium Centre, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Blackwood Miners Theatre, RCT Theatres, Theatr y Sherman Theatre,The Stagecentre, The Talent Shack, Cardiff and Vale College.

There will be a small sharing of work at The Other Room on July 8th to an invited audience which will be the catalyst for further discussions and collaborations.
