Tomorrow I am flying to Warsaw to take part in the 'Little Warsaw Theatre Meetings' A Children's Theatre showcase which is part of a greater theatre festival arranged through the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. I am visiting with Steve Davis from Spectacle Theatre and looking forward to seeing lots of shows and meeting new people.

In the preface to Magdalena Raszewski's book "30XWST. Warsaw Theatre Meetings 1965 - 2010", the author writes: When the Warsaw Meetings were held in 1965 none of the organisers at the time realised that it brought to life one of the most enduring and most important institution of theatrical life in Poland. The WST quite quickly became an institution for creating a theatrical hierarchy, promoting careers, creating trends. They were witness to the state of the theater, but he created, inspired. They had and have their audience. fostered several generations of the Warsaw intelligentsia. formed a whole, not at all considerable, the environment of people around the theater. "Handlarz cudów" / "Miracle Seller", a film directed by Bolesław Pawica and Jarosław Szoda, starring Borys Szyc, has won the main prize at the 29th Bergamo Film Meeting Awards, which took place between March 12-20, 2011.
The Podlaskie Symphony Orchestra and Włodek Pawlik Trio prepare an ode to the great Polish poet, Czesław Miłosz. "The Miłosz Jazz Project" unites various cultural influences drawn from the Podlaskie region, such as Orthodox sacral music or Jewish folklore. The "Miłosz Jazz Project" will be presented in concert at the Podlaskie Philharmonic in Białystok in September 2011.
The theatrical adaptation of Tadeusz Słobodzianek's "Our Class" has been seen by some 10,000 spectators in the first six months of its run. The drama, directed by Ondrej Spišák, is set in 20th century Poland and is inspired by true events, such as the Jedwabne pogrom which led to the bloody demise of 300 Polish Jewson July 10, 1941. It raises questions about the sources of anti-Semitism and the right to judge the morals of all those involved in acts of violence inspired by hatred.
A Ukrainian director and producer Serhij Proskurnia announced that a feature film about Polish writer Bruno Schulz will be shot in Ukraine this year. Schulz was born and lived in Drohobycz (presently Ukraine). Proskurnia revealed also the working title of the film: "Waiting for the Massiah".
A 30-second short film by Michał Wilczek about the work conditions and wages in Europe and India has won the Sukuma Millennium Award. The award will be presented to Wilczek on February 3 by Moby, who also wrote the music for the film.
A film about Lech Wałęsa, the legendary leader of the Solidarność trade union, will be finished in autumn 2011, announced the director Andrzej Wajda. The script of "We, the Polish People" has been written by Janusz Głowacki.
