Problems signing out of this website?

I can't sign out!

Recently some people have had problems signing out of the National Theatre Wales community website (or "logging out", same thing). The problem: when you click Sign Out, it just remains signed in. If you have this problem, this post will probably help.

The problem is usually caused by old cookies. These are little text files saved locally on your computer which help to preserve your preferences between visits. To solve the problem, you can delete the cookies no problem - fresh ones will be created (baked?) next time.

Background to problem for the curious

This problem won't affect everyone. We have made some tweaks to the site and URLs which have meant that certain older cookies are no longer useful. So you are more likely to have this problem if you're a "long" term member of the site. We expect this problem to disappear completely now that we are not tweaking the site URLs.

National Theatre Wales's community website is built on a system called Ning. The cookies from here are absolutely nothing to worry about! (Like any technology, cookies are sometimes used for less noble purposes but not by us. If you'd like to be free of the bad sort of cookies, make sure you have up-to-date security software.)
