Seeing as making a website for Sh!t: I’m Single has mainly made me headbutt my computer, I thought it would be a good idea to start things off with a blog post! Below is everything you need to know so far.

Sh!t: I’m Single is a WalesLab project exploring the almost secret realm of online dating. Facilitated through our own performative dating company (shitimsingle.com), Anna Poole & I hope to lead our audience along the baffling path of possessing an online dating presence. We want our audience to experience everything; from choosing the right profile photo, to that ever awkward first date.

Our first WalesLab week and starting process has been predominately second and first hand research; centred around the motives behind and experiences of the online dater. I would love to have written “the typical online dater”, but it appears that there is no such thing! I’ve interviewed everyone from baby faced students, to middle aged men who faked their own online deaths!

We are currently prepping for our next WalesLab week, which will see our dating company hosting a number of events around Neath. This will include spot the fake speed dating; a dating event in which the audience have to sniff out the two actors posing as hopeful lovers. In the lead up we will be inviting a number of people in Cardiff to help us iron out any overlooked kinks.

There are a few different ways to get involved, you could even do all three if you want to shine your way into our good books!

  1. Actors, avid daters and wannabe participants are needed to help us develop our events and future performances. If you’re interested leave a comment below or email shitimsingle@gmail.com
  2. If you have an experience of online dating that you would like to share (in confidence) or have stories from friends who have used it, I am always looking for people to interview over a cup of tea. Send me an email at shitimsingle@gmail.com
  3. We want to build up a bank of dating experiences, however embarrassing/amazing/monotonous. We will have an area to share and discuss on our website as soon as it stops making me pull this face:

I'd love to be involved, this looks brilliant. I'm not single, but I would love to be one of the actor daters!
