The Soul Exchange
The show began as soon as you entered the building. Actors milling around. Mixing in with the audience. They would talk to you and you were swept up straight away in their stories and lives.
After I was given my boarding pass and had my picture taken, I got into a taxi to start my journey. The story was about a man who had come to Cardiff in search of his father, Abdi Mackmood. As the story unfolded I visited all the places that the young man visited while on his journey. Then at the end of the taxi ride we discovered that the young man’s father had his name changed, this led to the young man finding a local vicar who broke the news that Abdi’s (nicknamed Old Tiger) funeral was today. His wake was at the coal exchange in Bute town.
The wake was a mixture of stories about Old Tiger’s money making schemes. Stories from his children about their childhood. Performances from people who had know him and at the end a dance called the “Electric slide”. The steps were easy to follow but soon had everyone joining in and having fun.
The band that was performing
The whole evening was the most unique experience I have ever had. All the actors tried their hardest to involve you in the story and by the end I really did feel a part of the plot.
