Stories of the Streetz Creative Bubble

Hey All,

I wanted to firstly say a massive thank you to all who came to the event in Creative Bubble Swansea last night and to NTWTEAM for your continued support. Was great to see some new faces too!!

This SOTS was a little different to how we have done them in the past. Writers attended a workshop on Monday the 2nd where we looked at ways of transforming bits of overheard conversations into interesting theatrical masterpieces. The writers were sent out onto the streets of Swansea to find inspiration for their ten minute plays. Even though the writers had to have their plays in the next day they all did such a great job.

We had Station Ambition by Hannah Goslin, inspired by Twin Town and the Ambition Is Critical plaque outside the station. The Thing About Fag Hag's Is... By Rhys Matthews this was a dark comedy where an obsessive fag hag bullies her gay best friend into marrying her, think Pam from Gavin and Stacey meets Nighty Night. Regression By Jack Muir saw two adults trying to relax on a trip to Swansea beach and regressing back to their childhood to escape discussions of 'Maddie from work'. Eye See By Frank Thomas was a beautiful piece about two strangers meeting and falling in love over their quirks and dysfunctions, his ever itching eye and her ever burning ear. Pants By Richard Clatworthy followed two friends around a pricey supermarket to hear the exchange of 'day time TV' style gossip and battle with memory loss. Finally we had Fish Funds By Kelsey Richards a story of a man's desperate attempt to save for a holiday to Ibiza via the means of a metaphorical goldfish.

It was a great night and the scripts were still raw and rough round the edges, performers rehearsed for a few hours only yesterday before the show. However this didn't take away from displaying the exceptional writing talent Swansea has to offer. All in all a great night had by all in a great venue. Thank you Creative Bubble , NTWTEAM , ALL the Actors and Writers

here's to the next one

This was a GREAT event!

Thoroughly enjoyed taking part - thank you Kelly and Anna for the training and support beforehand! - and was wonderful to see everyone's finished pieces.

They were so unique and diverse, which proves what an interesting concept this workshop is! There were some really talented actors and actresses which really broughth the pieces to live. Can't wait for the next one :)
