Hello there,
So tonight is the second meeting of the the TEAM Choir- The Cardiff Sound Collective run by the wonderful Ben Tinniswood and Christopher Michael Young. I've had the pleasure of working with both chaps this year and they continue to surprise and delight with their experimental approach to soundscapes and "noise making".
It was with a little trepidation I went along last Wednesday, aware that holding a note has never been my strong point. I have however always had an interest in exploring the relationship between sound and body and a yearning to try new approaches to sound creation in the arts.
It quickly became apparent I had little to fear!
Held in Jukebox studios under the arches by NoFit State, I met with the boys and a friendly bunch of sound enthusiasts.
The first hour was facilitated in a relaxed manner By Ben & Chris. Several imaginative vocal warm up exercises took place, allowing us to be playful and creative as we began discovering the range of sound from within.
The second hour saw beatboxer Jomez educate and entertain the collective with some extraordinary skills. By the end we were well equipped with the basics to construct a beatbox bassline. I skipped home experimenting with the new ways/shapes/sounds my mouth now knew how to do. A fine sense of achievement and wonder was felt.
Here's a few reasons why The Cardiff Sound Collective is the best place to spend your Wednesday night:
As well as being a busy Actor, Theatre Maker, Singer & Artist, Teifi also founded & runs the fantastic & very popular "Sing! Choir".
Teifi will be joining for a workshop exploring Vocal Improvisation, Soundscapes & who knows what more!
Some spaces still available. Just email: team@nationaltheatrewales.org to secure your place.

This sounds really cool... can anyone come along and is there any age restrictions? My younger brother 15 would love this. He's currently my alarm clock! It would be nice for him to explore new sounds.
