The adventures of wound man and Shirley review

The Adventures of Wound man and Shirley

The Adventures of Wound Man and Shirley is a story of a teenage boy trying to cope with growing up with the help of Wound Man, a very unlikely superhero. Shirley is the weirdest kid in school and doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere. Wound Man is the first person who seems to understand Shirley and luckily has a sidekick vacancy. Shirley finally has someone to talk to about “Subway” the perfect boy, and the loss of his elder brother.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I went to see this play but when it started and the story began I knew that I wouldn’t be disappointed. The simple and childlike storytelling immediately captured everyone’s imagination. The atmosphere in the theatre was electric and there wasn’t a whisper as the story unfolded in front of our eyes. I was completely captivated by every word and the hour and a half seemed to fly by.

The story was simple but very effective and was told perfectly. The telling completely captured the voice of a teenage boy and his views and worries.

The intimate setting and wonderful story made for an amazing evening out. I thoroughly recommend this play to anyone.
