The Ballad of Ivor Jones, WalesLab 2014, blog post 2

Although this project is grounded in thorough research of BHC it is not, nor does it seek to be, documentary or pure historical re-telling. As Found&Lost our work maps realms characterised not only by things falling apart, but also by the stirring and quickening of things coming to life.

In the void which is left by the children who were sent to Canada is space for the creation of contemporary narratives, both imagined and real, created with children who live here now. Through a series of workshops, Ivor’s story will be re-imagined and re-told through the eyes of these children. We will be journeying with the children to explore their own perceptions of identity, the foreign and home.

As well as the workshops, our research and development period also entails the production of a large scale video installation, the creation of a sound work with artist Chris Young, and a performance by a local children's choir of a new work by musician Imogen O’Rourke. So we’ll be busy!
