So, recently I enjoyed a brilliant trip to Cardiff thanks to the people at National Theatre Wales and Roundhouse.

What it entailed was; eight spoken word performers (myself included), coming together to work on a new piece of poetry to be performed for video, all of which will soon be available on the Roundhouse website as part of the Talking Doorsteps project. We enjoyed sharing our own work, discussing our most embarrassing memories, working in teams on various writing tasks, exploring our surroundings, exploring our creative boundaries and living in a creative bubble for a few days. The other performers that took part in the workshop were each excellent in their own way, I couldn't believe just how much quality and variety there was in a room of eight performers. It was ace - I tried falafel for the first time ever too, that was also ace.

The best thing about this experience for me, was getting to work in an environment where I was required to do what I enjoy most; interact with other creative people, hear them perform, create new material and learn what I can along the way. Having a workshop facilitator as enthusiastic as Polarbear was brilliant too, there were very few dull moments in the 'corridor of rhyme'. He knew exactly how to drive people to move their creativity forwards and exactly how to help when the poetic wall was standing tall on the page - in my case at least, I can't speak for anyone else. It was the first workshop I had been to and I cannot fault it; the people were great, the workshop was quality, the city was thriving, the food was delicious and I bought some mannequin heads that I'd needed for a while when I was there too. Top notch weekend.

I hope others get the same opportunity as I did and take full advantage of it. If you want to see some clips I got from the weekend then click the link below.
