NTW, with Migrations, is looking for an ensemble of five adult performers to join the company for The Gathering / Yr Helfa in Snowdonia this Autumn

Created by Louise Ann- Wilson and written by Gillian Clarke, The Gathering / Yr Helfa is a powerful exploration of the annual cycle of sheep-farming and is the culmination of three years’ observation of life at Hafod Y Llan, a working hill farm on Snowdon.

All performers should be fit, strong, and happy in the landscape. They should be able to walk, willing to climb (safely) up a rock, wade in the river, lift things such as bales of wool; and be willing to get into a wool-sac. The ensemble may read poetry and sing (including in Welsh), move and dance and interact directly with audience.

The company will rehearse on site at Hafod Y Llan, near Beddgelert, Snowdonia from Tuesday 26th August until Monday 15th September, including the performances on the 12th, 13th and 14th of September. These roles will be paid at NTW’s standard rates.

The rehearsal process will be inside and out in all weathers.

The ensemble is directly inspired by a photo taken on the farm in 1947.
