In Plain Sight

By Glass Shot

Soap Opera!
Who’d believe it? In one street, small town or square at least one of the inhabitants will have changed sex, come out, been burgled, put up for adoption, married many times, lost children, friends, been bulimic, become suicidal – and happy! Unbelievable? No!
On any street in any town or village, there are people silently fighting battles. And “The Rest of Us” just don’t notice. They’re hidden in plain sight.

This gripping Theatre presentation will use people’s real stories to let the audience into their lives and give a voice to people who can’t speak for themselves.

Megan Evans, who has to go into a Care Home as her memories fade; Paul, who knew when he was four that he was a “little girl, not a little boy”  In his twenties he starts on the long road to put things right; Sue who comes home to find her front door smashed in and her wedding ring and eternity ring missing. The thief’s caught and there’s a chance for her to confront him.

Over the past five years, we’ve researched, written and presented Case History based drama pieces for organisations such as Stonewall Cymru, Victim Support, North Wales Police and Age Concern. The objective is to get the audience to empathise with other people’s lives and to generate an emotional response which will encourage them to embrace diversity and change. Most importantly, they give a voice to people who can’t speak for themselves, who are “Hidden in Plain Sight”.
