One of my favourite experiences of Edinburgh 2011 was Hotel Medea - an overnight re-imagining of the Medea story with a strong Brazilian flavour.  I'd promised to go months previously when I'd met one of the directors - Jorge Lopes Ramos - at an event in Cardiff, but I have to admit, when I turned up at the Summerhall venue at midnight at the end of a long day seeing shows, the idea of being stuck in a performance for the next six hours didn't feel like a good idea at all.  At the sight of friends in the Summerhall bar, I almost opted for a beer instead.  I'm glad I didn't - few beers, indeed few shows - are as memorable as the night of theatre that Ramos and his co-director (and Medea) Persis-Jade Maravala conjured up. From a full on Brazilian wedding-party for Medea and Jason, through a political campaign to a bedtime story in our own bunkbeds, the audience was taken on a journey that carefully guided us through every rhythm of the night.  A morning breakfast was theatre catharsis at its best!

I've been keen to bring Jorge and Jade here to Wales to share some of their approaches, and this week they will be running a two-day workshop for artists on Wednesday and Thursday 10-8.  The focus will be on your own work, but explored through the working methods of Jade and Jorge.  It should be an extraordinary opportunity to ask deep questions about the work you do.  There's still a couple of places left on the workshop. NTW is paying, so you get to attend for free; the only requirement is that you attend the full two days - as it's not the sort of workshop you can drop in and out of.
