Catching up with the cast of 'Robert Golding'

Today I went along to Assembly Roxy to watch Robert Golding, a play written by Welsh playwright Owen Thomas. The Audience are lead up winding staircases and the old building gives off plenty of atmosphere before you get to the show. At the top you then arrive at an intimate theatre space and I took my place waiting for the show to begin.

As the play opens it is lighthearted and witty, yet as the conversation turns to topics such as 'do you believe in ghosts?' although asked jokingly and passed aside with an old tale a friend once told about a ghostly experience, the atmosphere begins to grow tenser and the leading character Robert Golding begins to show his hidden side.

The atmosphere builds rapidly as the character Mark enters, and as he unveals the truth as to why he is there and what he knows about Robert...things get out of hand.

I really enjoyed the unpredictability of this play it was funny, well written and took quick and unexpected turns. The conspiracy theories that Mark talks about in the play are not only interesting and remarkably convincing (I'm pretty sure Paul McCartney is definitely dead!)

The performances are seamless and the cast allow the characters to steer the plot into very dark places, with clever hints of comedy.

I caught them up after the show for a chat, watch it here...
