As we head toward the first show in our ‘Year of Surprises’ – Raw Material, we’re calling out again to people who might like to come and spend the year with us as our Resident Artist. Some of you may remember this initiative from last year, when, out of an amazing range of applications we chose visual artist Kyle Legal to join us for the year. 

Once again this opportunity is open to artists from all sorts of backgrounds and art forms.  From ballet dancers to rappers, sound artists to ice-sculptors, we’re looking for a creative spirit to inspire and engage with NTW throughout the year.  We don’t tell you what to do – we ask what you’d like to do. It’s not full time, but it is year-round.  You get £10,000 and we get your ideas and input.  

The criteria are the same as last year:

This opportunity is targeted particularly at artists/creative folk who have a bit of experience under their belt - we want to learn from you!  We are very open about who can apply - life-experience may be just as important as awards and publications; we are interested in all sorts of creative spirits, not only theatre people (though we would definitely like to hear from theatre designers, writers, directors and performers); and we are very open about what you will do.  

You won't have to come in to sit at a desk on a daily basis, and you don't have to write a play, or design a show, or build a set or form a band.  But we want you to be a key part of the company for the year - feeding into decisions we make about programming, about the future of the company, and about how we support other artists. We'd love it if you made us laugh or cry, told us old stories, or strange bits of knowledge, and introduced new people and ideas to NTW.

If you are interested, send us a message, or a letter, or an email, or a video, or an interactive sculpture (you get the point!) talking about why you'd like to bring your expertise and creativity to NTW for the year, and add a couple of ideas about what you might get up to.  Don't send us a CV, but please do make sure that you have a profile on the NTW social network containing as much info as possible about you. Your application must refer to your online NTW profile.

We'll invite a small selection of applicants to be 'artist for the day' at various points this April, and then announce our resident artist for the year up to April 2015.
