We're backing the bid for Wrexham City of Culture 2025! #wrecsam2025
National Theatre Wales TEAM has a long history of working in Wrexham. We are inspired by the tenacity and diversity of the place and its people.
Due to the efforts and resilienc
e of its brilliant
communities, we know that Wrexham already has a vibrant and diverse cultural scene – one which has inspired and informed our own work – we have experienced first-hand the phenomenal talent already available there. From football to music,
spoken word to hip hop, modern art to community choirs, everywhere you turn, Wrexham has something to offer.
The heart and the talent is there, but just imagine the possibilities. With the power of City of Culture Status, Wrexham’s creative and cultural volume could be amplified to supersonic levels. Investment in Wrexham County Borough would bring employment, opportunities, vibrancy of experien

ce and most importantly, a sense of pride and optimism for the future of this underestimated, yet remarkable town.
For over a decade, National Theatre Wales TEAM have had the privilege of collaborating with local artists and activists on a multitude of projects.
This year we are thrilled to be co-creating a large scale production with the people of Wrexham, and to be continuing our relationships with venues and organisations such as Voicebox, Ty Pawb, Yellow & Blue, Larynx, The Groves, Un Deg Un, One Love Choir, Wrexham Library, Glyndwr University and hopefully many more.
In our experience, being part of creative projects makes a real difference to people's lives. We have seen it time after time. A place is transformed when ideas are given time to develop and practised with enthusiasm – what could be more exciting than that? We support the City of Culture bid because this is an opportunity that could be truly transformative, not only for Wrexham but for Wales as a nation, with Wrexham proudly leading the charge. It would allow a light to be shone on all that is already on offer; it would enable new connections to be made, establish new creative communities and provide opportunities to discover new talent - the kind of thing that we at National Theatre Wales TEAM can totally get behind.
TEAM Panel Member Natasha Borton: “It’s been a privilege to work with National Theatre Wales TEAM in my hometown over the last 10 years by providing opportunities for the community to experience national art initiatives and to platform the community in the Welsh art scene. Their involvement in the region proves how much Wrexham has to offer locally, nationally and globally. We know how amazing our community is, and the City of Culture bid would give us an opportunity to show everyone else.”
Mae gan TEAM National Theatre Wales hanes hir o weithio yn Wrecsam. Cawn ein hysbrydoli gan ddycnwch ac amrywiaeth y lle a’i bobl.
Oherwydd ymdrechion a gwytnwch ei chymunedau gwych, rydym yn gwybod bod gan Wrecsam fywyd diwylliannol ac amrywiol bywiog eisoes - un sydd wedi ysbrydoli a llywio ein gwaith ein hunain - rydym wedi cael profiad uniongyrchol o'r dalent anhygoel sydd eisoes ar gael yno. O bêl-droed i gerddoriaeth, y gair llafar i hip hop, celf fodern i gorau cymunedol, ym mhob man yr ydych yn edrych, mae gan Wrecsam rywbeth i'w gynnig.
Mae'r galon a'r ddawn yno, ond dychmygwch y posibiliadau. Gyda grym Statws Dinas Diwylliant, gellid codi swm gweithgarwch creadigol a diwylliannol Wrecsam i lefelau uwchsonig. Byddai buddsoddiad bwrdeistref sirol Wrecsam yn dod â chyflogaethyn dod â chyflogaeth, cyfleoedd, bywiogrwydd profiad ac yn bwysicaf oll, ymdeimlad o falchder ac optimistiaeth ar gyfer dyfodol y dref hynod hon, nad yw wedi’i llawn werthfawrogi.
Ers dros ddegawd, mae TEAM National Theatre Wales wedi cael y fraint o gydweithio ag artistiaid ac actifyddion lleol ar lu o brosiectau.
Eleni rydym wrth ein bodd i fod yn cyd-greu cynhyrchiad ar raddfa fawr gyda phobl Wrecsam, ac yn parhau â’n perthynas â lleoliadau a sefydliadau fel Voicebox, Tŷ Pawb, Yellow & Blue, Larynx, The Groves, Un Deg Un, Côr One Love, Llyfrgell Wrecsam, Prifysgol Glyndŵr a llawer mwy gobeithio.
Yn ein profiad ni, mae bod yn rhan o brosiectau creadigol yn gwneud gwahaniaeth gwirioneddol i fywydau pobl. Rydym wedi ei weld dro ar ôl tro. Mae lle yn cael ei drawsnewid pan roddir amser i syniadau ddatblygu a’u hymarfer gyda brwdfrydedd – beth allai fod yn fwy cyffrous na hynny? Rydym yn cefnogi cais Dinas Diwylliant oherwydd mae hwn yn gyfle a allai fod yn wirioneddol drawsnewidiol, nid yn unig i Wrecsam ond i Gymru fel cenedl, gyda Wrecsam yn arwain y gad â balchder. Byddai yn caniatàu tynnu sylw at bopeth sydd eisoes yn cael ei gynnig; byddai’n galluogi cysylltiadau newydd i gael eu creu, sefydlu cymunedau creadigol newydd a darparu cyfleoedd i ddarganfod talent newydd – y math o beth y gallwn ni yn TEAM National Theatre Wales ei gefnogi’n frwd.
Aelod Panel TEAM Natasha Borton: “Mae wedi bod yn fraint gweithio gyda TEAM National Theatre Wales yn fy nhref enedigol dros y 10 mlynedd diwethaf drwy ddarparu cyfleoedd i’r gymuned brofi mentrau celfyddyd cenedlaethol a rhoi llwyfan i’r gymuned ym myd y celfyddydau yng Nghymru. Mae eu hymwneud â’r rhanbarth yn profi cymaint sydd gan Wrecsam i’w gynnig yn lleol, yn genedlaethol ac yn fyd-eang. Rydyn ni'n gwybod pa mor anhygoel yw ein cymuned, a byddai'r cais Dinas Diwylliant yn rhoi cyfle i ni ddangos i bawb arall."
