In the Dark Philosophers' Shop in the centre of Newport we have been asking people to tell us what they would ask Newport if they could ask anything...

Out of last week's discussions, Philosophers' Cafes and Live Art Speed Date, we've had some interesting questions so far on the What is the Newport Question board.

The Newport Question will become the theme for the Newport Assembly.

We will spend a week investigating the Newport Question and attempting to answer it through performance and debate during the Newport Assembly on Saturday 13 November @ 5pm.

All this is happening in the Dark Philosophers' Shop on Upper Dock Street, Newport town centre (we are alongside other shops that make up Newport's Empty Shops Project!)

Come and tell us what YOU think the Newport Question should be.

...Is Newport Dooooomed?

...What's "New" About Newport?

...If you cut this city does it bleed?

...Does Newport need an anthem?

...What is the Newport Question?

(I would like to ask Newport why it is like an unmined seam of coal with the odd diamond in it, which many people are afraid to investigate. All those different approaches from the M4 etc. daunt anyone who wants to come and mine the seams of Newport's very well hidden treasures.
