WELSH NATIONAL YOUTH OPERA 2010/11

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Welsh National Youth Opera is looking for a budding director to join their professional creative team as Assistant Director. The role will give you a 'hand on' professional training experience working alongside WNYO director, Pete Harris on a new commission 'The Sleeper'

WNYO works with young people from throughout Wales and offers professional directing, coaching and mentoring opportunities throughout all aspects of opera from costume making, technical theatre through to singing, playing and performing. The group are led by and supported by a range of exceptional top freelance theatre professionals and Welsh National Opera Staff.


The placement will provide you with shadowing opportunities, observing group and individual production rehearsals, allow you to work in collaboration with the director and to contribute to rehearsals and the development of the work, as appropriate and offer ‘hands-on’ opportunities with the company as required by the rehearsal process.


Requirements:

· Applicants should be 21+
· Been born or raised in Wales, or you should have received a significant proportion of your education in Wales or alternatively, previously had a relationship with WNO

· Be able to commit to all of the rehearsals and performance dates.
· Have some experience of directing theatre/ opera/ music theatre and be available for the rehearsal and production run.


Candidates will be interviewed in Cardiff on 25th or 26th November 2010.
