On Sunday my day was mainly filled with balloons, ideas, tuck shop sweets and post it notes.

I imagine that there are 19 other NTW TEAM members who feel the same...

Sunday was the second Workout event ran by Lisa Wells-Turner and supported by TEAM. As part of the day myself and Peter also ran 2 skill swap mini events. Workout is an amazing idea which brings together a group of creative people working in different fields and enables each to borrow other professionals to work on their current project. In exchange they then spend the next session working on someone else's project. I'm sure that the others who will there will agree its a really useful event that leaves you feeling creatively stimulated and inspired to progress whatever project you took. It's also a fab way of finding new people to collaborate with. I know that some people arrived with an idea and left with a full creative team!

For myself, I took an idea of a piece that I wanted to work on and after a few hours had done a full read through with another actor, talked through staging ideas with a director and got advice about props and costumes. It was the sort of progress which normally have required at least 3 meetings and a rehearsal, and I was able to get it all done in half a day and in the Volcano space which NTW TEAM had provided! If people have ideas or half started projects that need a boost, I massively recommend taking them to the next Workout.

The skill swap events also went really well and it was lovely to hear everyone getting excited about swaps they had made. People were offering to record voice reels, be front of house, take rehearsal photographs, make websites, set up book keep records and loads more. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that it was a relief to swap skills for skills rather than have to find money to pay for all those essential things that are needed to take a project from an idea to a performance.

Roll on February and the resulting performance which will be happening thanks to Workout, Skill Swap and the wonderful NTW TEAM!

Well that summed up the day pretty perfectly I'd say.  Thanks Emma!  And thanks for all the work you and Peter put in with Skill Swap.  It was a really important part of it and I can't wait for the next one.

This sounds so great. I've heard so many good things about the TEAM workout, it really seems to bring people together. I hope I will be able to attend the next one. Keep us updated about the resulting performance!
