As you may be aware Wyn Jones, a member of this community, passed away unexpectedly at the end of last week.

Wyn was a leading figure in the technical theatre community in Wales and he encouraged and supported many fledgling careers.  Wyn had just left Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru where he was Technical and Operations Manager for some years and he was returning to freelance work.

I met Wyn for the first time in October when he made a point of welcoming me to the country and to the theatre world here, we subsequently sat on a few forums together and met at a number of conferences and were busy making plans with some others to improve the training available for technicians in Wales.  We will have to continue this work without him now.

Wyn always seemed to have a smile and I was looking forward to working with him and getting to know him better.  It is my loss that this will now not happen, but this is a small loss compared to what the theatre has lost and most importantly what his family and friends have lost.
