Profile Information

What I do:
Goff Morgan was born in Newport, and trained at the Welsh college of Music and Drama as an actor. Upon completion of his studies in 1983 he started work as a freelance tutor in Drama and Voice & Speech in Newport Drama Studio. During the 1990's Goff moved onto radio. For two years he was a regular guest on the Mal Pope show on BBC Radio Wales, and wrote Broken Arms stories for BBC Radio Gwent and Red Dragon Radio. In 1992 he won the One Voice Monologue competition in the Swansea Grand Theatre. In the late nineties co-wrote Dai Namik Superhero, a 16 episode comedy serial for BBC Radio Wales.

In 1997 Goff was created Newport Town Poet, the only official town poet in Wales. The post finished officially in 2000, but has never really gone away. He now works regularly as a broadcast poet for BBC Radio Wales (Roy’s Rarebits and others), and has presented two short social history programmes of his own. He currently teaches Drama and Community Studies for adults with learning difficulties with Newport Community Education, and Creative Writing for UWCN.

Goff continues to broadcast regularly on BBC Radio Wales, particularly on The Roy Noble Programme with a Monthly Muse, Something Else and Good Evening Wales. He also crops up on The Steve Nolan Programme on Radio Five Live, and once even on Radio Four!

The All Wales Comic Verse Competition

Yesterday was the launch of the All Wales Comic Verse Competition!

On Tuesday I posed for photo's on the steps of the Roman Legionary Museum in Caerleon, Newport. and read the launch poem. As I was a Romano-British Poet, I opted for the socks and sandals combination for which our Nation is renowned!

Here's the poem, a pastiche in the style of the Roman…

Hi Goff

Do you know anyone who might want to get involved with my project CareHome Lab?

CareHome Lab is an simulation of a care home bedroom and dayroom, in Newport. It has been set up so that designers and researchers can go through the lab and experience the care home scenario in a way they can not in real life...ie. CRB checks take a while etc...

Go here to get more information about the project www.carehomelab.com

I am looking for performers to play the residents and staff of the care home. This is an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in a role for (if you want to) up to five hours at a time. Although I am looking for a team of performers to do tag style over the five hours... so you don't have to be performing the whole time.

For residents: I am looking for fit and active performers aged 65+

For staff: I am looking for performers of any age.

As this is a try out for the idea...so I can not offer any renumeration... only film footage of your performance.

To find out more about CareHome Lab, please feel free to call me on 07947 363 541

Kind regards

Victoria
