What I do:
circus and theatre maker
A little more about me:
I work as a performer, tutor, facilitator, director, assistant director. I am Head of Youth for NoFit State Circus, co-founder of physical theatre company The Bad Eggs and member of Splatch.Arts Collective.

As an artist I create work that reckons with uncomfortable subjects in a way that is both provocative and entertaining. I am excited about work that exists in unusual spaces, where encounters with the audience are not constrained by the conventions inherent to traditional theatre spaces. I am passionate about encompassing a variety of voices and experiences in the fabric of the work. I am currently most preoccupied with the issues of mental health and how they sit within our social and political systems.
Projects I’m working on:
I am currently working on developing my first solo show called Period Drama. It is an autobiographical piece that looks at the experiences of anxiety disorder through a female experience and our relationship with time. The piece draws parallels between menstrual cycle, life cycle of a butterfly and fluidity of our mental health. The performance uses corde lisse, new writing, physical and verbal comedy, and live music (possibly) created by Ashley John Long.

Just before the pandemic I have done two weeks of R&D, funded by Arts Council of Wales, focusing on text and the dramaturgy. I am just preparing for the next stage of development in which I am looking to further explore the possibilities for the piece to exist in unusual spaces that in some way relate to the notion of time passing. That could be clock towers, old watch factories, decaying buildings, and nature spots based around water. I am looking to collaborate with a visual artist/set designer to help me explore ways of grounding the imagery from the piece (butterflies, water, plants and visual metaphors for blood) in different places within the public space realm and to look at how the elements of the “scenography” could be used to magnify the direct experience of time passing. If this could be you, get in touch!

I am also working on a video essay reflecting on the experience of lockdown and how it alters our relationship with time. This project is supported by NoFit State Circus Transitions Micro Fund.
