Museums at Night - participants needed to help us tell the alternative Cardiff Story

The alternative Cardiff Story (Cardiff by Parris):

A collaboration between Janette Parris and the Cardiff Story Museum

The Cardiff Story Museum (a social history museum– exploring Cardiff’s history through Cardiffians and their personal stories) has won the chance to work with leading contemporary artist Janette Parris for the Museums at Night festival.

The Museums at Night is the annual after-hours festival of arts, culture and heritage when hundreds of museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites open their doors for special evening events. It takes place over the weekend of Thursday 15 – Saturday 17 May 2014.

We plan for our event to take place – Friday 16th May, 7 – 10pm.

Summary of event -

  • Leading contemporary artists are creating dozens of faked artefacts and they will be dispersed throughout our galleries.
  • Specially invited guests will deliver funny & bizarre alternative tours of the galleries.
  • Live music will be performed in the infamously large lift of The Cardiff Story.
  • Actors / singers will interweave throughout the night with drama and song from 'The Cardiff Story Musical' written by Janette Parris.

Our event will be full of random, weird, crazy moments offering an alternative museum experience and an alternative perspective of The Cardiff Story in more ways than one.
