We had a lovely turn out for the creative writing workshop in Monkton Swifts last Saturday. Hosted by Kelly Jones and Tom Wentworth the workshop focused themes relating to Monkton. There were various tasks which included creating monologues and verbatim exercises. Participants were asked to bring photo's and memorabilia linked to the area which were used in discussion. Here are some shots from the day.

Rose (left) described the photo of herself and her pet goose at the local fair, she entered the goose in a competition who attacked one person and (in her words) 'crapped' on the judges shoe, but they still came third!

Bill Thomas told us his story of his 'walk around Monkton', he described the route he used to take to school and back, giving us details of each business he passed on the way, many of them were sweet shops!

It was exciting to see so many writers in one room, all of which had a connection with Monkton and with a variety of moving, funny and heart warming stories to tell. Stay tuned for dates of our next workshop!
