Join us at our Creative Visit with Chicago's Albany Park Theatre Project!

NTW TEAM is thrilled to be able to offer TEAM members the opportunity to join us at NTW office in Castle Arcade Cardiff to take part in a Creative Visit with David Feiner and Maggie Popadiak of Chicago's Albany Park Theatre Project on September 22nd from 2:30-3:30pm. We have space for 15 lucky TEAM members to come along to find out more about their work and ask any burning questions you may have!  See below for some information about this brilliant group:

Founded in 1997, Albany Park Theatre Project is a multiethnic youth theatre ensemble that inspires people to envision and work toward a more just, equitable and joyful world. APTP makes its home in Chicago's Albany Park neighbourhood, a predominantly immigrant community that is one of the most culturally diverse neighbourhoods in the United States. APTP's youth ensemble devises original performances inspired by the real-life stories of immigrants and working-class people throughout Chicago. APTP is known for honest storytelling that is both fierce and tender, for daringly physical theatricality and for fearlessly tackling issues such as immigration, poverty, racism, housing, violence and education. APTP's most recent work is “Learning Curve” (2016), a site-specific, immersive performance created in collaboration with New York's Third Rail Projects. "Learning Curve" placed audiences within the walls of a public high school and in the shoes of its students. In its review, the New Yorker magazine wrote, "Learning Curve is both a scathing indictment of a defective system and a tender study of the awesome awakening that makes being a teenager so frightening and fun. It’s rare that such a public conversation about education is facilitated by students, the silent shareholders. For audience members far removed from adolescence and professionally uninvolved in the day-to-day public-school machine, the production’s intensely personal portrait of a modern urban school district is startling.” APTP complements its art making with a holistic program that supports young people on their way toward meaningful and purposeful futures.

Wedi'i sefydlu ym 1997, mae Prosiect Theatr Albany Park yn ensemble theatr ieuenctid aml-ethnig sy'n ysbrydoli pobl i ddychmygu a gweithio tuag at fyd mwy cyfiawn, teg a llawen. Mae cartref APTP yn ardal Albany Park Chicago, cymuned o fewnfudwyr yn bennaf sy'n un o'r cymdogaethau mwyaf diwylliannol amrywiol yn yr Unol Daleithiau. Mae ensemble ieuenctid APTP yn dyfeisio perfformiadau gwreiddiol a ysbrydolwyd gan straeon bywyd go iawn mewnfudwyr a phobl o'r dosbarth gweithiol ledled Chicago. Mae APTP yn adnabyddus am adrodd straeon gonest sydd yn ffyrnig ac yn dyner, am theatrigrwydd corfforol dewr ac am fynd i'r afael â materion fel ymfudo, tlodi, hiliaeth, tai, trais ac addysg. Gwaith mwyaf diweddar APTP yw "Learning Curve" (2016), perfformiad ymdrochol safle benodol, a grëwyd mewn cydweithrediad â Phrosiectau Third Rail Efrog Newydd. Rhoddodd "Learning Curve" gynulleidfaoedd o fewn waliau ysgol uwchradd gyhoeddus ac yn esgidiau ei myfyrwyr. Yn ei adolygiad, ysgrifennodd cylchgrawn y New Yorker, "Learning Curve is both a scathing indictment of a defective system and a tender study of the awesome awakening that makes being a teen-ager so frightening and fun. It’s rare that such a public conversation about education is facilitated by students, the silent shareholders. For audience members far removed from adolescence and professionally uninvolved in the day-to-day public-school machine, the production’s intensely personal portrait of a modern urban school district is startling.” Mae APTP yn ategu ei waith celf gyda rhaglen gyfannol sy'n cefnogi pobl ifanc ar eu ffordd tuag at ddyfodol ystyrlon a phwrpasol.
