August 012 & WNO are seeking professional singers

UPDATED - Closing date is 17:00 on Thursday the 18th of October. 

August 012 and Welsh National Opera are undertaking a period of research and development to explore their future site-specific co-production of The Coronation of Poppea by Monteverdi.

We are looking for professional singers who are interested in exploring and experimenting. But we're not just looking for opera singers - we're looking for soul, pop and jazz singers as well.

The research will take place on the week commencing on the 10th of December 2018 in Cardiff.

Auditions will be held at Wales Millennium Centre on Sunday 21st October all day, and the evenings of 23rd and 24th October.

We are looking for:

 

Poppea - A soulful female soprano (along the lines of Whitney Houston and Diana Ross). All ages welcome. We are interested in mature singers. Needs to be able to sing the G an octave and a half above middle C. Must be able to read music.

Nerone - We are looking for…

EITHER: a falsetto male pop/soul singer (along the lines of Prince or Jamiroquai) - needs to be able to sing a G an octave and a half above middle C. Must be able to read music.

OR: a high pop/soul tenor (along the lines of Al Green or Sam Cooke) - needs to be able to sing the G above middle C. Must be able to read music.

Seneca - A soulful bass (anything from Johnny Cash to Barry White - jazz/blues/gospel/country) Needs to be able to sing a low E an octave and a half below middle C and the D above middle C. Must be able to read music.

Arnalta -  A female Jazz singer - anything from Sarah Vaughan to Amy Winehouse. Needs to be able to sing the G below middle C. Must be able to read music.

 

These are all fully paid roles.
