In A Comedy, six individuals are brought together to face the task of creating ‘A Guide To Humour’. Unique, mischievous and controversial personalities collide as they explore the nature of humour in a post-COVID world of cancel-culture and sensitivity. This riotous and challenging stage of the R&D asks us to consider what is funny nowadays...and what isn’t!

A group of performers will explore these themes with the Lead Coordinator through play and discussion, structuring and preparing the material for a final presentation. The main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in improvisation, devising and writing exercises with the Co-ordinator and Dramaturg
  • A sharing of the completed material to a select audience in March 2022.
  • Conducting creative research inside and outside the rehearsal room
  • An openness to share and reflect from personal experience
  • Involvement in outreach activities (ie, instagram take-overs, zoom workshops)
  • A sense of humour, ideally.

This is an open call and, as such, we are extremely interested in hearing from applicants with protected characteristics and/or those from under-represented communities. Due to the nature of the project, some of the subject matter may be triggering.
