What are the rules we want to live by? Who leads us? Why are we a country at all?
Early Days of a Better Nation is about the opportunity to start again.
A theatrical exploration of the nature and limitations of democracy, which may - or may not- unravel into a political game of unintended consequences.
This is an early scratch performance for an audience of 120 people. It builds on the audience-led theatre of Coney’s "A Small Town Anywhere"

Hi Group Members,
Here is a video of the predecessor, A Small Town Anywhere, to Early Days of a Better Nation. Early Days is an iteration of a particular kind of show that was invented by Coney with A Small Town. Something interesting to watch on a Friday morning . . .

ANNOUNCEMENT! We're very pleased and excited to tell you that Early Days of a Better Nation will be showing at Chapter Arts Centre on the evening of Thursday, May 17th!
Tickets are a tiny £1 so we're hoping to see lots of you there. 60 places in all, make sure you come and get involved!

Hello everyone, I'm one of the co-dircetors of Coney and am directing Early Days. We have started preparations towards the first R&D showings. We're very excited about it. Like Gill said earlier we're interested in seeing of we can develop an interactive show that allows for a space for the audience to discuss big ideas around democracy. We want to be ambitious with it and this R&D is the first step towards developing what the show could look like.
As always with interactive theatre, the show is about the audience and will be made We're really hoping that we can get as many engaged theatre makers, writers, thinkers etc. as possible to come to this first stage. We're aiming to provide an interesting evening in return for ideas about how the show can develop further.
Meanwhile we've been working with smarties to figure out the audience movements

It has lots of information about who they are, what they do, etc.
Gill, thanks for the question . . . it has had my mind churning all day. For me, personally, I think that theatre should raise questions for us to find the answers to individually and I think that this production will do this and create a discussion from this. I'm really excited by it :)
Have a gander at the website and lots more interesting information about the project will be posted over the next couple of weeks.

Let us , as Dylan said, begin at the beginning. In a time of the breaking down of democratic rights in UK what issues do we wish to address through theatre in S.E.Wales ?
I agree that the ,'luxury of detachment "is no longer viable".
