CASTING CALL FOR ‘THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS’

We are looking for an actor (male or female) to play ‘Mole’ in our outdoor production of:

‘THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS’

Auditions are to take place 29/05/19 6-10pm at Theatr Clwyd.

About us:

Top Knotch Theatre was created with the aim of helping non-professional young actors and creatives gain a foothold in the industry. Roles such as Director, Producer, Musical Director, Costume Designer are all filled by those under 25.

Rehearsals take place on Wednesday’s 6-10pm at Theatr Clwyd in Mold, North Wales, with more outdoor rehearsals to take place closer to the performance dates.

ABOUT THE PLAY:

A book by Kenneth Grahame, ‘The Wind in the Willows’ focuses on a group of anthropomorphised animals (Rat, Mole, Badger, Otter and Toad) and their adventures among the Willows. Simultaneously, in between chapters, we follow a band of bank robbing Weasels highlighting their escapes from the Sheriff and their eventual heist of Toad Hall.

Performances will take place at Theatr Clwyd on August 1st and multiple outdoor venues from the 2nd – 5th August.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a male or female actor to play the role of ‘Mole within our production of ‘The Wind in the Willows’. MUST BE AGED BETWEEN 16 AND 25. We are already a few weeks into rehearsals therefore somebody who can slot into our company and learn blocking fast is key.

ABOUT MOLE:

Mole is a sensible animal, yet generous and extremely loyal to their friends. They appear shy and timid but begin to grow in confidence as the play progresses. Closest of all to Rat, the animal who teaches them the value of exploration after Mole leaves home in the first chapter.

To express an interest please email: TopKnotchTheatre@gmail.com

And we will send you all the information you need.

Auditions are to take place 29/05/19 6-10pm at Theatr Clwyd.

*Please note this is an unpaid opportunity*

Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay

Sunday, 2 Jun - 11:00 - 13:00

Free

We often make street games and are always looking for Actors with the particular skills required to be a performer within our work. We are offering this free workshop as a chance to meet new performers interested in the style of work yello brick makes.

It also serves as an opportunity for performers to gain a greater understanding and develop skills for performing in immersive worlds, street games and interactive experiences.

This is not an audition but a chance for us to get to know you and you us. This two hour workshop will cover a range of different elements including:

- character building

- world building

- game facilitation

- audience interaction and in-world improvisation

We hope participants will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of the this style of work, the role of the actor within it and the skills to develop further for working in this way.

This opportunity is for professional actors and those currently in training.

Yello brick create meaningful experiences that place audiences at the centre of the story.

Our work is bold, challenging, curious and playfully disruptive.

Spaces are still available for the next silent writing retreat.

Zenpens is an exciting new writer’s retreat based in Cardiff City Centre. Adapted from the Writer’s Army workshops lead by the New York playwright Anne Washburn, Zenpens allows writers to concentrate solely on their work in meditative silence.

Zenpens is a one-day silent writers retreat. No phones. No social media. No distractions.

Meeting at 9:45 am for a short debrief and writing exercises, we start working in earnest at 10 am until 1 pm. An hour lunch. Then more silent writing from 2 pm until 6 pm.

The most important rule is that everyone starts and leaves at the same time. It’s a quiet space, but most importantly it’s a space where everyone is working steadily together.

We also ask that people not work during lunch. Periods of not working and switching off completely are vital for overall productivity.

What’s on offer?

A supportive space to begin something new or rehash something old.

New networking possibilities.

Writing exercises to boost creativity.

Free tea and coffee facilities.

How much?

Money collected at the retreat is used to pay for the space and its upkeep. If you can, please pay the suggested donation of £8 or £5 concession.

This sounds right for me, when’s the next one?

Zenpens will be taking place on the 20th April at the John Dennithorne Room, Quaker Meeting House, 43 Charles Street, Cardiff CF10 2GB.

How can I get in touch?

Spaces are limited, so please email your interest to Paul Stoyle at zenpenssilentretreat@gmail.com or visit https://zenpens-silentwritersretreats.yolasite.com/ for more information.

Best wishes,

Zenpens.

Hi everyone,

We're re-casting Rachel Trezise's one-woman show, Cotton Fingers. We're taking it to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland before it comes home for a Cardiff run this year. Breakdown here. This is live on Spotlight too.
Thanks!
