Hi,
I am a Newport Film student currently producing my second year experimental film. I have posted a discussion on the actors group for an open casting and the Director and I have also been looking through the group for actors who fit the brief.
We are please to inform you that we are interested in you for one of the parts and would like to invite you to a casting this Friday at 5pm in the Newport University city campus NP20 2BP. If you are unavailable for this please let me know as we are aware this isn't much notice and so might possibly be holding another casting next week for those who can't make it. The brief is as follows:
The first brief is for a troubled Young Man having to care for his dying father, He is angry and confused about his father's bizarre, fatalistic behaviour and is, at first, not able to understand what his father is trying to tell him. He numbs himself through his obsession with horror films and alcohol and drug use. He is frightened and has no idea how to deal with what's happening to his dad, with whom he has never been able to communicate.
The second brief is for an Older Man who is suffering with pain, fear and hallucinations related to his oncoming death. He is trying to tell his son that he knows he will die soon and that there is nothing he can do about it but does so in an obtuse, confrontational way involving childish behaviour and too close-to-the-bone humour.
There is a pivotal scene where the 2 come to an understanding after a sort-of fight whilst the father is in the bath but refusing to co-operate. This will be quite physically demanding and require nudity from the Older Man.
Given that this is a student project, unfortunately we are able to pay expenses only but food will be provided on set everyday. It's a 3 day shoot from the 16-18th of November. Although this may be subject to change.
Please contact us if you have any questions. Also if you are able to attend the casting could you provide us with an email so that I can send you a copy of the script.
Many thanks,
Mia Sands

Hi Ray! Thanks for your interest! I think I might look for something to do around mid January for the next Critical Chinwag so keep an eye on the group page in the new year as I'll be keeping that updated.

Thanks!
