PORNOGRAPHY by Simon Stephens
CASTING BREAKDOWN
Following the sell–out, critically acclaimed staging of Caryl Churchill’s Serious Money in 2011, Waking Exploits return with Simon Stephens’ beautiful yet chilling award winning play, Pornography.
Directed by Mathilde López, Waking Exploits take to the road on a national tour of Wales in April and May 2012.
SUMMARY
Pornography is the stark play by Simon Stephens that captures Britain as it crashes from the euphoria of Olympic dreams into the devastation of 7/7.
Written in response to the July 2005 attacks, the piece explores intimate and entwining journeys of lonely characters wrestling with an uncontrollable desire for the forbidden. Trapped in the same world, suffocated by the same heat wave, information overload and summer tune, their actions are somehow fuelled by the Capital’s fever for growth and auto-destruction.
We are looking to work with a versatile ensemble of performers with physical and music abilities (if possible).
Actors should have a South Wales base wherever possible.
