CALL FOR TRUSTEES!
To perform the role of Trustee, attend Quarterly Board Meetings, be a member of a sub-committee, to be committed to proactively supporting the Company, its work and the Theatre sector

We are a small theatre company with a clear vision – to develop and produce thought provoking, accessible theatre with the focus on telling women’s stories. Our structure allows us to work and collaborate with a number of theatrical practitioners , in a number of different styles and genres. We are currently working with 2 exciting playwrights: Bethan Marlow and Melissa Manteghi. We are currently seeking funds for our first production as we have secured co-production from Wales Millennium Centre. This piece was developed as part of WMC’s Incubator Project, is written by Bethan Marlow and will open in December 2010. Our work in schools, colleges, youth projects and youth theatres is intrinsic to us as it not only informs our work but allows us to meet, work and share experiences and skills with young people. We seek to challenge modern theatre audiences as well as nurturing a new generation of artists and art lovers. The company is based in both Cardiff and London.

We are looking for individuals from the Business and Commercial sectors eg Business Development, Publicity/PR, IT, Sales and Audience Development etc who can support us in this quest.

Our website is www.velvetensemble.co.uk if you wish to see and read more about our work.

If you or someone you know might be interested, please get in touch!

Are there any Velvet Ensemble members interested in taking part in theatre versus oppression's new writing initiative at Chapter the last sunday of every month - so this sunday
We are developing 6 plays in 10 min sections and asking the audience to suggest What Happened Next? We will be using different techniques to suggest how the story might develop and it relies on audience participation.
It;s a different way of developing writing and getting people together to mix

Really exciting meeting with Bethan Marlow and Sarah Bickerton on Saturday at WMC. The development of NEVER, FEAR, LOVE? is well underway - they have plotted and planned and Beth is now spending the next 2 months writing the full play. April 13th will be our first read through and then on............. I am so excited about this project and will keep everyone in touch!
Onwards and upwards!

I am very interested in this company

I am an actor, I will be graduating this summer from Trinity College Carmarthen. I will then be playing Juliet with Taking Flight theatre company, touring around Wales this summer.

I recently played Annie/Emily and Eady in Gut Girls directed by Peter Doran. So it was nice to see that you have performed that too. Do you have anything coming up soon?

It would be brilliant to know more about your company.
Keep in touch,
Anja Conti
