I support play-based community organizing internationally, both as a freelancer and as a founding Director of Pop-Up Adventure Play. My particular interests are in the materiality and performativity of children's play, and its potential for broad social change. I collaborate regularly with schools, museums, parks departments and other groups to promote and improve the play potential of public space, and to create more ways for people come together through joy.
Location:
Cardiff and beyond
Projects I’m working on:
Pop-Up Play Shop - first piloted in Cardiff's Queens Arcade, this project converts empty city centre shopfronts into all-age, all-ability play spaces. Now providing training and event support to other play associations in the UK.
Global Network - Providing independent organizers in Colombia, Mexico, USA, Egypt and elsewhere with free resources and mentorship in play-based community organization.
Consultancy in play provision, research and events, with clients including schools, city parks departments, museums, libraries and family support associations.
A writing project tentatively called "Adventurous Play for Children and Other People."
