On Friday I go to Holland to take part in ‘
De Afleiding’, a 24 Hour Workshop delivered by PeerGrouP. You may have seen my
mug expressing sheer joy on this very site upon hearing the news I had been selected to join Mathilde on the excursion – and joy is very much what I felt when selected. Now, as the time grows closer I feel...
In
Slung Low’s HQ, we have a system, a very good system, which allows us to express very clearly how we feel. This is important as part of a collective in order to allow us to remain honest and open with each other. We call it the Neil Sedaka Sleeve Of Emotion, and it looks like this:
Pinned to the wall we can simply call upon any of Sedaka’s wonderfully concise expressions to pin point exactly how we feel, from the ecstasy of top left to the despair of bottom right. For the record, my favourite is the look of teary disappointment in someone who has let him down so badly he is no longer sure he can be their friend despite the years of happiness they have shared together, positioned in the middle of the bottom row.
What I am getting at is that right now, I couldn’t find the emotion I feel buy prodding Neil. I wouldn’t want you to believe Sedaka has failed rather that PeerGrouP have excelled. I am excited, scared, intrigued, beguiled, serious, wild – all manner of feelings flood through me when thinking about just what to expect.
In all seriousness however, I am extremely happy to have this opportunity and can’t wait to get there. I just hope the plane doesn’t have propellers; just as Sedaka doesn’t have a face to fit my mood today, he has none for the fear I have of flying. Wish me luck, I shall return with a full report on the whole shebang early next week.
In the meantime, stay top left.
Scotty
