Event Description

Applied Theatre in Action
4 Day course 26-29 July 2017

Course Cost £250(discounts available for unemployed & full time students)

Location: Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff UK

We will look at what Applied Theatre is, how it is used and how projects are set up. We will develop an advanced understanding of the ways in which drama and theatre can be used to build dialogue with groups in the wider community and among students.

Participants will develop an informed awareness of the issues involved in applied theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed and an appreciation of what it means to be responsive in this context, as well as gaining a critical awareness of the skills necessary for effective facilitation in the field of applied drama. The principles of Augusto Boal and Theatre of the Oppressed will be used.

These will be practical workshops on devising, adapting and creating narrative structures. We will look at how performance work is created from true stories and participants will have the opportunity to develop a project concept.

(No previous experience is necessary.)
