Event Description

CountryBoy’s Struggle is a unique debut solo show, written and performed by Maxwell Golden and produced in conjunction with Ciontact . The show follows an MC’s journey from the cliffs of Cornwall to the streets of London. Playing over 30 characters and mixing Hip Hop, movement and comedy, this is your first chance to catch a tour-de-force performance. CountryBoy’s Struggle has been devised in collaboration with Martin Stannage and Baba Israel

"Pure poetry" –

The Telegraph

"Golden is a charming and supple performer whose physical skills match his gifts for vivid characterisation and razor-sharp rhymes, creating an easy show to like." –

Just got in from experiencing Countryboy's Struggle (Maxwell Golden & Baba Israel): http://ning.it/PXZUa7 in Llandrindod Wells (Powys Dance Centre).
'One man's search for a sense of belonging'...Michael (Maxwell) searches for his destiny; a community in the world of rap. I could find no rhyme nor reason to dislike any of it. Michael plugs in the free phase to generate a mash up of comedy with a message of resilience through tough realities. Where does Countryboy belong?... entertaining me, that's where.
