In celebration of Dickens' 200th birthday, and in conjunction with World Book Day, Jam Bones and Chapter are pleased to present:
Dickensian Twist! The World's First (and Possibly Last) 19th Century-Inspired Lit-Slam! Poetry and prose in its many forms are welcome at this event, in which slammers will compete, in genteel 19th century fashion, for some suitably arcane prizes (TBA). Over 3 rounds, slammers will have up to 3 minutes to impress our randomly-picked-from-the- audience judges - pieces performed in the first round must have some kind of Dickensian/Victorian link/theme, the final 2 rounds are anything-goes. NOTE: if you have a Dickensian/Victorian-themed piece, but don't want to slam, there will now be an OPEN MIC section as well :-) ALSO FEATURING SPECIAL GUEST ***Miss Lilly Laudanum!*** The ex-London Dungeon burlesque babe who will be adding her bust and bustle skirt to the event. Just what is Victoria's secret?? You'll have to come along to find out!! http://www.lillylaudanum.com/ Tickets are £4 on the door, £2 for slammers/open mic. PLEASE EMAIL ME (Mab Jones) IF YOU WISH TO TAKE PART AS PLACES ARE LIMITED! mabananajones[at]gmail[dot]com |
