Event Description

Invalid Street is a project focused on the theme of arts in public spaces, barrier-free spaces and attentive language.  The main aim of the campaign is to create awareness of the power of language, which contributes to the creation and non-creation of personal realities, and to deconstruct the word “invalitat” (disability) in the context of questioning and challenging “validitat” (ability).

With this project, we want to contribute to this argument and make visible what might be invisible to our perception: everyone is unique and special with his/her very own diversity.

The project is launched with an intense workshop week, offering four different workshops, which finally will conclude in a conjoint rehearsal and a street performance in Invalid Street, Vienna.

Workshops are DanceAbility with Vera Rebl; Aesthetics of the Oppressed and Madalena Project with Barbara Santos; African Percussion with Didier Pajot and Graffiti with ASOL/PMcrew.

Theatr Cynefin have 3 subsidised places available for the week.
